Before you enquire.
Eight things specifiers, contractors and homeowners ask before starting a tiling brief.
Q.01
How much does tiling cost per square metre?
Labour typically ranges from £40–£150 per m² in the South of England, depending on tile format, substrate condition and project complexity. We provide a fixed written quotation after a free site survey, that's the only accurate way to price tiling work.
Q.02
Do you work on commercial projects?
Yes. We work on offices, hospitality venues, retail units and new build residential and high-end developments across Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, London and our wider coverage area. We can work from architect drawings and provide the compliance documentation commercial sites require.
Q.03
What is tanking and when is it needed?
Tanking is a waterproof membrane system applied to walls and floors before tiling in any area exposed to water. It is essential for wet rooms and shower enclosures. Without it, water penetrates behind tiles and causes structural damage over time. It is also an NHBC standard for all bathroom and en-suite walls taking a tiled finish.
Q.04
Do you supply tiles or just install them?
Both. We can supply tiles through our trade accounts and our sister company The Tile Colosseum, which often saves clients money versus retail pricing. Alternatively, we're happy to install client-supplied tiles. We'll advise on quantities as part of your quote.
Q.05
How long does a typical bathroom take?
A standard domestic bathroom is typically 4–8 working days for a tiling-only scope, depending on complexity and tile format. Larger formats and intricate patterns add time. We confirm the programme in your written quotation.
Q.06
Are you insured and accredited?
Yes. Full public liability (£10m) and professional indemnity insurance. We are TTA members and CHAS, Constructionline and SMAS Worksafe accredited. All workmanship is guaranteed for 24 months.
Q.07
Do you cover my area?
Our core counties are Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey and London. We also work regularly in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Kent and Sussex. See the Areas page for towns we cover in each county.
Q.08
How quickly can you start?
We aim to respond to enquiries within 4 working hours. Site survey within 7 days. Fixed written quotation within 48 hours of survey. Lead time to start on site is typically 2–6 weeks depending on scope and time of year.
